April 25, 2017
Dr O made the referral to the first available surgical urologist. I was eager to get to see someone and find out what needed to happen to get this out of my body. Dr R was the urologist and he was a little different than the other doctors I had been to so far. He was very fast paced, and liked to use the phrase “that is putting the cart in front of the horse” when trying to ask informational questions.
He wanted to get me into surgery right away after taking a look at everything. He had suggested that I may be referred to the university of Indiana for additional treatment after the removal of the testicle. They are one of the leading hospitals in the country for treating testicular cancer.
I was also in a rush to get this surgery done, as this part of the treatment plan was a no brainier. The cancerous testicle had to be removed and there just was no other way around it.
Dr R quickly looked at the schedule on his phone and decided that he could have me into surgery in the next day or two. It was pretty shocking to watch how fast things could get moving. We sat down with with of the nurse schedulers and she got me on the schedule for outpatient surgery on April 27, 2017. This was going to be my first official course of action to start treating what was going on inside my body.
